How do I control the patient education content?

After registering, you will have a Vivacare account that you can access online with a username and password. Once logged into your account, you can easily turn on or off topics that reflect conditions you treat, procedures you offer and medications that you prescribe.

If you turn off a topic, the topic and all of its associated content will immediately disappear from your Practice Website Library.

Where does the content come from?

The content is derived from multiple reputable sources, including the following:

  • Professional organizations (i.e. AAD, AAN, AAFP, etc.)
  • Patient Support Groups (i.e. National Psoriasis Foundation, National MS Society, etc.)
  • Government Agencies (National Institutes of Health, National Library of Medicine, FDA, etc.)
  • Medical Publishers

In most cases, the content remains on a third-party website. This means that patients access the content through links to the organization's own website.

What type of content is provided?

Vivacare provides content that is focused on helping patients understand their diagnosis and manage their condition. Priority is given to content that is practical in nature and easy to read and understand.

For any topic, many different types of content may be available, including the following:

  • Printable handouts about diseases, procedures or medications
  • Printable booklets
  • Online videos
  • Links to support groups
  • Links to books for purchase
  • Self-care tools, such as diaries or recipes.

How is the educational content selected?

Vivacare's content team, including medical writers and physicians, first develops a draft content plan. Following internal review, the content is then reviewed and approved by Vivacare's medical advisors to match the real-world needs of practitioners and their patients.

How is the educational content kept up to date?

Medical developments, such as new drug approvals or withdrawals, require that Vivacare keep its content offering current. The Vivacare content team is responsible for proposing content changes in response to these developments as well as in response to input from advisors, physician users, and routine review of medical literature.

Each of the content sources (professional organizations, support groups, publishers, etc.) also have their own internal review process and update their content regularly.

Suggested edits or updates are always welcome.

Will I be informed if the content changes?

Vivacare will provide quarterly summaries of content changes that impact your specialty.

Is educational content available in other languages?

Vivacare has made an effort to include content in other languages. Many medication handouts and disease overviews are available in Spanish.
