Colonoscopy

Colonoscopy is a procedure that allows a gastroenterologist to look inside the colon (large intestine) and identify inflamed tissue, abnormal growths, and ulcerations. It is performed most often used to look for early signs of colorectal cancer. It is recommended that most people get a colonoscopy at age 50, or earlier if there is a family history of colorectal cancer, a personal history of Crohn's disease or Ulcerative colitis, or other risk factors.
