About Alexa Vessell, PA

Alexa Vessell is a Texas native who was raised in San Antonio. After graduating high school, she moved to Fayetteville, Arkansas, and attended the University of Arkansas, earning a Bachelor's of Science in Biochemistry. She was a member of Arkansas' Division I Track and Field program where she earned several SEC scholar-athlete awards.

During her time at Arkansas, she shadowed a physician assistant at a dermatology clinic, where she became passionate about the dermatology field. She became interested in the complexities of dermatology and felt that she could make a positive impact in the field of dermatology. Several of her family members, as well as herself, have been affected by various dermatological conditions, solidifying her interest in the field.

Knowing she wanted to return to Texas, she chose to attend Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center for PA school. During clerkship rotations, she made the decision to begin her career in Lubbock. While she enjoyed all of her medical rotations, dermatology was a perfect fit. She saw the positive impact dermatology providers afford their patients, and felt that her strengths as a healthcare provider were heightened in this field. While she loves all of dermatology, she is most passionate about acne, skin cancer prevention, and cosmetics.

She graduated from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center as a member of the Pi Alpha Physician Assistant National Honor Society, which recognizes accomplishments in scholarship, service, and leadership. She completed her masters thesis on the complexities of acne and acne treatment. After graduation, she was excited to join Advanced Dermatology and Skin Cancer Institute. She feels honored to serve and to provide dermatological care to the wonderful people of West Texas. She is looking forward to planting her roots in the beautiful city of Lubbock.

In her free time, she enjoys outdoor activities, watching sports, baking, and spending quality time with family and friends. Her favorite sports teams are the Red Raiders, the Arkansas Razorbacks, and the San Antonio Spurs.
