About Dr. Dan Nelson, MD
DAN A. NELSON, M.D., F.A.A.D, has been practicing Dermatology since entering his residency program in 1981. His practice began in the U.S. Air Force where the majority of his patients were retired members of the military. He left the Air Force in 1988 and has been practicing in the West Valley since then. Because of this experience, his practice has emphasized the care of patients with skin cancer and the skin problems of young adults and senior citizens.
Dr. Nelson is licensed in the State of Arizona and is Board certified in Dermatology by the American Board of Dermatology. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology. He has published several medical articles in national and international medical journals and has been selected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.
Dr. Nelson graduated Summa Cum Laude from Augustana College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He then moved to Texas and graduated with honors from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. His Dermatology residency was performed in the Air Force at Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. His Air Force assignments sent him to Maxwell AFB, Alabama and Davis-Monthan AFB, Arizona. Dr. Nelson has Hospital Staff privileges at the Walter O. Boswell Memorial Hospital, Del E. Webb Memorial Hospital and Arrowhead Community Hospital.
Dr. Nelson is an active member of All Saints Lutheran Church in Phoenix. His other interests include snow skiing and aviation.
