About Dr. Elizabeth Long, MD

Dr. Long keeps her dermatology education current in a number of ways. She is an active member of the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, the American Contact Dermatitis Society, the Women’s Dermatologic Society, and the Louisiana Dermatologic Society. Additionally, she has served as Louisiana Vice-Chair for the Dermatology Foundation, a national organization dedicated to raising funds for dermatology research. She also volunteers her time for the LSU Department of Dermatology by staffing resident clinics in Baton Rouge and for the LSU-S Department of Family Medicine by hosting their residents for dermatology electives.

Dr. Long’s clinical interests include pigmented lesions (moles and melanoma), contact dermatitis (rashes due to external applications), managing chronic inflammatory conditions (including psoriasis, eczema, and acne) and helping her patients age with grace, no matter how old or young they are.

Education & Training

Dr. Elizabeth Long is a board-certified dermatologist and a third-generation physician. She is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the Honors College at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. In 2001, she graduated from the LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans. Her honors there included Alpha Omega Alpha, the Henry Jolly Award for Dermatology, and the Russell L. Holman Award for Pathology. After an internship in Internal Medicine at the Medical Center of Louisiana at New Orleans (Charity and University Hospitals), she completed a three-year degree at the LSU Department of Dermatology in New Orleans. Following a year in private practice in Miami, FL, she moved to Alexandria, LA (her husband’s hometown) and opened Red River Dermatology in 2007.
