About Dr. Lance Brown, MD

A leading dermatologist with private practices in Manhattan and East Hampton, Dr. Lance H. Brown is also an educator, currently training resident physicians as Clinical Assistant Professor of Dermatology at New York University School of Medicine.

While pursuing his own medical degree at NYU, Dr. Brown was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. He subsequently completed his internship in Internal Medicine at Yale University and continued on to the University of Miami Department of Dermatology and Cutaneous Surgery, where he excelled in both cosmetic procedures and skin cancer treatment, earning its “Excellence in Skin Surgery” award.

Today Dr. Brown is one of the nation’s foremost experts in Mohs’ Micrographic Surgery, a precise technique for removing skin cancers while preserving the surrounding healthy tissues. Especially appropriate for excising lesions from the face and neck, Mohs’ surgery also promotes the highest cure rate, offering Dr. Brown’s patients both an optimal cosmetic outcome and the least likelihood of recurrence.

Dr. Brown applies that same scientifically rigorous, cutting-edge expertise to his cosmetic dermatology practice. He rejects fads in favor of safe, proven and effective techniques that he always performs himself. His repertoire includes a variety of beneficial fillers and injections, all of which he has extensively researched, trained in and tested. A relentless innovator, Dr. Brown frequently holds seminars to instruct other doctors in the correct use of Botox®.

Dr. Brown is also one of the elite few physicians in New York who perform cosmetic surgery using Fraxel® laser technology. His state-of-the-art technique helps patients rejuvenate their skin by removing fine lines, dark spots and other effects of sun damage. As a non-invasive procedure, patients achieve a refreshed appearance with minimal down time. Dr. Brown additionally deploys laser surgery to remove unwanted hair, tattoos, acne scars and non-cancerous lesions.
Board Certified by the American Board of Dermatology and a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery and the American Society of Mohs’ Surgery,

Dr. Brown is also currently President of the Dermatologic Society of Greater New York.

A sought-out authority in his field, Dr. Brown has addressed dozens of dermatological conferences, sharing his latest advancements in surgical technique as well as discoveries in the treatment of skin allergies, infections, alopecia and psoriasis. He frequently publishes his work in prominent, peer-reviewed journals including the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, Skin and Aging and Cosmetic Dermatology.

Dr. Brown also offers his skills as a volunteer. He recently led a humanitarian effort to establish a dermatological training site for local physicians on Easter Island, Chile. As a member of the American Academy of Dermatology’s “Education and Volunteers Abroad” committee, Dr. Brown looks forward to bringing more care to more underserved populations in future missions.
