Angiomas are benign growths made up of small blood vessels. They can appear anywhere on the body. The three most common types are spider angiomas, angiokeratomas, and cherry angiomas.
A spider angioma is the name given to a red spot caused by a collection of small blood vessel on the surface of the skin.
Spider angiomas often have a red center and thin, reddish lines that spread out like "spider's legs".
Spider angiomas disappear when pressure is applied to them, then reappear when the pressure is released.
They are very common, particularly in women during pregnancy or in patients with liver disease.
Treatment is usually not required for medical reasons, but several options are available to remove spider angiomas if they are considered unsightly.
