This direct family experience with severe psoriasis allows me to be empathetic with my patients. I strive to get all of my psoriasis patients completely clear of their lesions, to improve their quality of life, and to reduce their risk of cardiovascular disease. It pains me that so many dermatologists undervalue and/or undertreat their patients with psoriasis, so much so, that now many of my recent lectures emphasize the importance of psoriasis as a serious disease and the importance of clearing skin disease in these individuals.
