Actinic Keratoses 101

  • Actinic keratoses (AKs) are dry, scaly patches that form on sun exposed skin.
  • AKs commonly appear on the scalp, face, forearms, and back of the hands.
  • A single lesion is called an "actinic keratosis" or "solar keratosis".
  • Most people with one AK will develop more.
Most people with at least one actinic keratosis will develop more.
