Dermatologists Share Their Psoriasis Expertise for Psoriasis Awareness Month

Nationally recognized psoriasis expert share their “Tips and wisdom” to help their patients better understand and manage their skin condition.

Vivacare announced a new initiative to align with August’s Psoriasis Awareness Month. Dermatologists from around the country are invited to contribute their clinical insights for patients to better understand and manage their psoriasis.

Psoriasis Patient EducationInformation provided by dermatologists is included with other patient education resources provided by Vivacare and highlighted on Vivacare’s Physician Directory, helping dermatologists communicate their unique approach to care and supporting their online marketing efforts.

Tips and wisdom have been contributed from nationally recognized psoriasis experts including Dr. Steve Feldman, Professor of Dermatology at Wake Forest University School of Medicine and member of the Medical Board of the National Psoriasis Foundation. Dr. Feldman shares his insight on biologics, phototherapy, corticosteroids, vitamin D derivatives and more in his approach to treating psoriasis. “Although there is no cure for psoriasis, there are a variety of effective treatment options that can clear the skin lesions caused by psoriasis,” Dr. Feldman states.

Dermatologist Dr. LindaSusan Marcus also describes her general approach to treating psoriasis, the usefulness of topical medications for mild psoriasis and the role of biologics for more severe cases. “I encourage my patients to choose an appropriate biologic and one that fits into their lifestyle as well. This is a partnership between my patients and myself.”

Dermatologist Dr. Jeffrey Poole describes the use of biologics for the treatment of psoriasis. “Each case of psoriasis has unique characteristics and each individual has a unique health history and lifestyle. Portland dermatologist Dr. Phoebe Rich helps her patients understand the diagnosis and treatment of psoriasis that can affect the fingernails and toenails. “Nail psoriasis takes a vast toll on patients, but with treatment quality of life can greatly increase.”
